LTG Vision
When I began to envision what might happen if we as a church got serious about Bible Study, confession of sins, and prayer for lost friends I seriously had trouble thinking about anything else! I thank God the Holy Spirit led me use the book "Search and Rescue" in our Life Balance Class since that is how I came to know about LTG's. Practically it makes so much sense, Get people to read more scripture and let the scripture itself change them. After all, we know that we have little hope of achieving life change in ourselves and the people we minister to using our own natural abilities. As the Holy Spirit changes us we in turn will be lights in darkness that will draw others to Christ. I see LTG's as something that is viral. It starts out as a small thing with seemingly little impact, but sooner that we can imagine more and more people become infected as we share and involve others in the process. I believe that as our growth in Christ continues the Holy Spirit will open up new ministry opportunities and more people will come to a personal relationship with Jesus. I know that I will be promoting involvement in an LTG almost ad nauseum because I believe they are the answer for the lack of passion for Jesus we see today. Thanks, Mark F.

Before implementing the groups in the church I engaged in similar Bible reading for the last three months. It has been incredible! I met with my LTG partner yesterday. We have purpose, direction, accountability, and a strong sense of God's leading. Let the adventure begin!! Mark F.
ReplyDeleteI know that for me the being in the bible and the having friends and support groups is critical. Bob
ReplyDeleteWe take time to read the paper, watch television, surf the web and yet think that we don't have time to read the most important book we have ever been given. Partnering with another person that I am accountable to each week has put my Bible study on a whole different level of reading. Lindy
ReplyDeleteIn reference to Romans 6:18 "You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness."
ReplyDeleteMy note in the Quest Bible said "Who wants to be a slave?" Everyone is a slave to someone or something. It's the master who determines whether slavery results in life or death. Apart from the grace of God, we are slaves of sin. And when sin is master, we die. But by grace we can be slaves of God. When God is master, we live. Slavery does not have to be a negative image. (THIS IS THE PART I LOVED) A kite is free to fly only when "a slave" to the string. Cut the string and the kite's freedom to fly is severed as well. Slavery to God frees us to fully be what we were created to be!" My LTG partner Esther said, "So the string is like the Holy Spirit." Very cool!
What I am really enjoying about our group is that scripture reminds us to work out our salvation with fear and trembling. In other words it is a daunting task not to be taken lightly and not to be done alone. LTG's give us the environment to be real with each other in regards to how we live out our Christian life on a daily basis. We are being schooled by God's word (the Bible) and then we work together to apply that truth into our lives. This is truly a life-changing process! Mark F.
ReplyDelete1 Peter 4:1-2 (The Message) "Since Jesus went through everything you're going through & more, learn to think like Him. Think of your sufferings as a weaning from that old sinful habit of always expecting to get your own way. Then you'll be able to live out your days free to pursue what God wants instead of being tyrannized by what you want." Is there anything greater in life than to live in total freedom? We can only find that in Jesus as we are encouraged to do the hard work of getting along with one another.
